Fleas are one of the most resilient pests, living for between 3 - 4 months with their only weakness being temperature. Preferring warmth our pets make the perfect breeding ground although fleas can also feed on humans and frequently do with bites causing discomfort.

Our Treatment Programme
Identifying the host of the fleas is the first step in the treatment process, this will normally be a pet dog or cat. These then need to be treated with an effective flea treatment. If the infestation has got out of control a further treatment may be need to eradicate the fleas.
Our technician will look at the property and assess the level of infestation, identifying areas that will require treatment such as pet beds, carpets and rugs. Treatments are applied and then a second visit is arranged to ensure this has been effective.
When treatments are completed our technician will provide a report including details on what treatments have been used and recommendations to help prevent further infestations.
Flea Control Facts
The cat flea is around 2mm long, a reddish brown colour and flattened laterally which allows it to move easily amongst the hair of its host. They have very distinct large jumping legs and a row of non-sensory black spines on the front margin of the head.
A female flea will lay hundreds of eggs at a time, from the egg emerges larva which are white in colour, these feed on the organic debris found in the bed of the host. When the larva is mature it spins a cocoon of silk which allows the pupa to develop into an adult flea. When triggered by a stimulus such as vibration the adult flea will emerge to feed on the host.
Fleas enjoy warm temperatures and are most interested in the parts of the home which aren't clean.
Problems Caused by Fleas
Fleas can cause distress from the bites which depending on the number of fleas on the host can become considerable. They can also be a carrier of tapeworm which can be passed onto the host and they can cause serious digestive tract disease which if not treated can be fatal.
